Stone Pelting On Ram Vivah Procession In Bihar, Several Injured In Clashes

Several people were injured in a clash between the two communities during the Ram Vivah procession on the occasion of Vivah Panchami in Bihar’s Darbhanga, the police said on Saturday.
The incident took place when the procession, which is carried out every year from the Tarouni village on the occasion, was pelted stones upon when it reached Bajitpur in the Nagar police station area.

What Did The Police Say?
According to the police, an argument broke out between people from two communities after which stone pelting started near the mosque.
“After this, people from both the Hindu and Muslim sides came face to face, and there was a fierce clash with sticks and stones. Several people are reported to have been injured," the police said.
Security Stepped Up
The police stepped up security in the area and set up a camp to ensure peace.
“The procession usually turns back near the mosque, but a disagreement occurred between the two communities, which escalated into the incident," SDM Vikas Kumar said.
The situation was brought under control and CCTV footage was examined to ascertain the sequence of events.
“CCTV footage is currently being examined to determine why the incident occurred. After the investigation, more details will be available. The situation is normal now," the official said.
