Just a side note that I read today. Overturning Roe V Wade is already taking a toll on porn. Specifically porn actresses are now refusing to do "cream pie" shots for fear of getting pregnant and not being able to get an abortion. And are switching to just girl on girl videos for the same reason.

Oh, but lesbian porn will be made illegal when Texas passes their sodomy laws. But then again, blowjobs would be out of the question as well.

I doubt even conservatives could live with only missionary/man on top sex only! For the rest of time.

Let's keep the focus here. @shootersa is saying our rights including the right of a woman to travel to another state to get an abortions is not threatened even though some states are trying to pass laws against that right now. But there are very good reasons why treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans have no credibility whatsoever on that. Because they also said Roe v Wade would not be overturned.

And now let's have another reality check. Treasonous conservative/America Hating/Republicans passing abortion bans are just simply taking away a woman's right to have control of their own bodies. In some cases they are sentencing them to death.

States with strong antiabortion laws have high maternal and infant mortality rates
Missouri is seventh on the maternal mortality rate list, with 37.5 maternal deaths per 100,000 births

    (Jane Norman/States Newsroom).

As someone who considers himself pro-life, I should be celebrating the recent Dobbs case that the Supreme Court used to overturn Roe v. Wade. But I’m very concerned today. I believe such a ruling will not only fail to reduce the abortion rate, but could very well lead to an increase in maternal death rates and infant mortality rates.

Former President Bill Clinton once said that abortion should be safe, legal and rare. Yet I fear that through such court battles, we’ve only focused on whether it should be legal or not. So much money has been spent on presidential and congressional races, all about whether or not the court should overturn Roe.

Many in the pro-life movement made getting rid of Roe the goal. It was treated like a political victory, like taking an opponent’s sword after some 18th century battle, instead of supporting a myriad of policies that would actually do something about supporting not just life, but a quality of life worth living. See the connection between mortality rates and antiabortion laws.

Take the case of maternal mortality rates. California has the lowest recorded maternal mortality rate (4.0 mother deaths per 100,000 births). It’s not an accident, as this death rate plunged by more than 50% since the state passed the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative in 2006. Massachusetts, Nevada, Connecticut and Colorado also round out the lowest five states for recorded maternal mortality rates (between 8.4 and 11.5 per 100,000 births), according to World Population Review. All took deliberate steps to help a mother during the process of birth.

Louisiana, on the other hand, has a shocking 58.1 maternal deaths per 100,000 births, the highest in America. Not coincidentally, it has the strictest anti-abortion laws in the country, according to a CBS analysis of state policies.

Then there’s Arkansas, with the fourth toughest anti-abortion laws, and the fifth highest maternal mortality rate (37.5 per 100,000 births). Missouri, which is tied with Arkansas for fourth toughest antiabortion laws, is seventh on the maternal mortality rate list from WPR (37.5 per 100k births). Texas, Alabama, South Carolina, and Indiana are also in the top 19 states toughest abortion laws, and the top 10 states for maternal mortality rates (each with more than 27 mothers dying per 100,000 births).

Have those who pushed for pro-life policies worked just as hard for universal health care, universal child care, or even voted for paid family and medical leave? How many babies will be born into a world that lacks such basic protections that most of the developed world offers? Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Indiana, and Ohio are in the top 10 of states with t

he highest infant mortality rate (according to World Atlas, and are among the states with the top 19 toughest antiabortion laws.

I pray that our state leaders will write laws in a way that will not boost mortality rates, just to appease a political ideology instead of the Almighty. Support bipartisan legislation like the bill from Senators Raphael Warnock, D-GA, and Marco Rubio, R-FL, that seek to reduce maternal deaths from childbirth and efforts to extend postpartum Medicaid coverage. Find ways to make pro-life about saving lives, not scoring political points.

Well, you got part of it right.
The story shows how media can politicize anything and either demonize or angelicize whatever they want.
The arrogant liberals always assume that anything or anyone not in line with their agenda is incapable of independent thought.
So we get someone who epitomizes a position and they get demonized.

Long before Weyrich was a thing polls and surveys showed that Americans were pretty evenly split on the issue of abortion. That split seems to go pretty much along with when one believes life begins. Somewhere between conception and birth, pick your flavor and set up your position. Weyrich no more "politicized" abortion than the choice organizations that have just as adamantly opposed any restriction on their right to choose.
But it helps to have a demon, eh?

What good does it do to pick a positon when that positon is entirely based on who is president and what the religious zealots on the court rule to ram Shara Law For Christians down our throats.

      What happened to this "position"?

Indiana AG who threatened to go after abortion doctor hit with formal misconduct complaint

Republican Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has been hit with a formal misconduct complaint over his threats to prosecute a doctor who performed an abortion for a 10-year-old rape victim.

The Washington Post reports that Lauren Robel, the former dean of Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law, filed a complaint against Rokita in which she alleged that he intended to "harass and intimidate" Dr. Caitlin Bernard when he falsely insinuated that she did not properly filed a terminated pregnancy report with the Indiana Department of Health and the Department of Child Services.

In an interview with the Post, Robel singled out Rokita's decision to publicly disparage Bernard and threaten to prosecute her during an interview on Fox News as a major red line that no attorney general should cross.

"The attorney general is tasked with protecting citizens, not going after them without evidence on television,” she explained. “I just fear that without those of us in the bar calling [out] that kind of behavior when we see it, we lower the standards."

During his Fox News interview, Rokita attacked Bernard's credentials as a doctor and said he an his office were looking into potentially having her license to practice medicine pulled.

"We have this abortion activist acting as a doctor with a history of failing to report," Rokita said. "So we're gathering the information. We're gathering the evidence as we speak and we're going to fight this to the end, including looking at her licensure, if she failed to report."

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KERO) — Following the United States Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, California's attorney general issued guidance on abortion rights and protections under state law.

Bonta says there are eight laws in place protecting reproductive freedom, including the right to safe and legal abortions. He advises anyone whose rights are violated to seek immediate support.

"If their rights are being denied, they can reach out to local law enforcement or our office who can intervene on their behalf to make sure that they are not being discriminated against, making sure that their rights are not being violated. We can make sure that their rights are vindicated through our efforts or through local law enforcement.”

And of course, the implication shooter is trying to make is that an expecting mother will just wake up the day before her expected due date, and just say "fuck it, I don't want this child"...

What he won't tell you is the reason why that law is what it is, and that's to deal with any last moment complications and any liability associated with those actions.

No woman is ever going to carry a child for 9 months only to abort...

He would rather talk about anything else other than rape victims being forced to carry their rapists babies to term even if they are 10 years old. And of course try to deflect attention from his own glaring and outrageous hypocrisy where @shootersa's views on abortion are totally dependent on who is president and what the religious zealots on the court decide.

@shootersa spent years declaring a woman has a right to an abortion and Roe v
Wade would not be overturned. But as soon as Trump's appointed justices overturn Roe v Wade he's all for it and not even a 10 year old rape victim has a right to an abortion.

The doctor at the center of a national firestorm about abortion has taken the first steps to sue the Indiana attorney general who accused her of failing to report the procedure. Dr. Caitlin Bernard performed an abortion on a 10-year-old girl who had been raped and impregnated after helping her travel from Ohio, where the procedure was banned, to Indiana, the beginning of a contentious back-and-forth between political parties about the rights of a rape victim. The abortion, reported by the Indianapolis Star, came just weeks after Roe v. Wade was overturned, leaving behind a powder keg of discou...

Idaho just passed their abortion laws. No abortion! Period! There will be no consideration for the life of the baby or the mother. If she miscarriages, she has to wait for it to come out naturally. If is an ectopic pregnancy, tough beans, you have to wait for it to burst, and pray the mother doesn't bleed out.

What will be the demographic shift over the next decade? Will blue states see more of an increase, as people decide to move due to their medical needs?

The problem as I see it... most people probably will not move for this reason. Moving to another state is no small deal, and I somehow don't think this would be a trigger for most people - you're not likely to think- I/my wife can't have an abortion in this state, so I'm moving. Abortion isn't something most people think about - UNTIL they need it. So - I guess the experience of having to travel to another state just to have an abortion may be enough to trigger some people to move... especially if as is being suggested, some states seek action against people who travel over state lines to get an abortion (!).

The other factor is cost. People who are poor would struggle to move states at the best of times...

Wisconsin Woman's Health Endangered By 173-Year Old Abortion Ban
A Wisconsin woman was allowed to bleed for 10 days due to the state's 173-year old law banning abortions.

The Washington Post has a report about how the confusion of a post-Roe world is causing life-threatening delays in women's health care all over the nation, including this poor woman in Wisconsin:

And in Wisconsin, a woman bled for more than 10 days from an incomplete miscarriage after emergency room staff would not remove the fetal tissue amid a confusing legal landscape that has roiled obstetric care.

The blame for this falls squarely at the feet of the state's Republicans. Let me explain.

When the so-called Supreme Court overturned Roe, Wisconsin already had an abortion ban law in the books from 1849. Yes, you read that right. 18-freaking-49. And when the political activists in SCOTUS turned over a 50 year old precedent in women's health care, this 173 year old law went back into effect immediately.

The law classifies abortion as a Type H Felony, punishable by up to six years in prison. But it is only in regard to the care providers:

The 1849 statute would most directly target doctors who perform abortions, as the law punishes "any person, other than the mother, who intentionally destroys the life of an unborn child" with a Class H felony, which may result in up to a six-year prison sentence.

The most ominous part of the law is that there is nothing specifically banning women from self-induced abortions.

Governor Tony Evers could see what was coming and called for the legislature to go into special session to undo or at least modify the ban. He was on solid footing for doing this. One, as demonstrated in the most recent Marquette Poll, a vast majority of Wisconsinites wanted abortion rights in place and were against overturning Roe V Wade. Secondly, the law is 173 years old. There has been amazing advances in both our knowledge and care for women, including abortion care. The law on the book was all but unenforceable due to being so obsolete.

Supporters of abortion access also expressed concerns that existing statutes would leave doctors in a bind, alleging the current language of state abortion laws leaves much to be interpreted regarding what constitutes an act that "intentionally destroys the life of an unborn child."

In addition to calling on the Legislature to reverse the 1849 ban, Attorney General Josh Kaul issued a statement implying the state's current abortion legislation may prove difficult to logistically manage and enforce given shifts in medical practices in the nearly two centuries since the law was first enacted.

"There will also likely be widespread uncertainty about the state law as people try to decipher whether, and if so how, an archaic and long-dormant 19th-century law would apply to 21st-century medicine,"
    Kaul said.

Sadly, the Republicans did what they usually do. They went against the wishes of their constituents to go on a fascist joy ride and power trip. The Republicans gaveled in and gaveled out of the Assembly in 25 seconds. The Republicans in the state senate did the same thing but only took 15 seconds.

It should be noted that this style of tantrum is the official modus operandi for Wisconsin Republicans. They did the same thing for expanding Medicare, police reform and gun control laws.

They must like the look of blood on their hands because they sure don't seem to be able to get enoug

@HisBabyGirl; thank you for an almost rational response.

@Scotchlass, So, you're from Texas - that kind of explains a lot.
Yeah, I live in Texas, but I'm not sure what that explains to you. I was born up north, so my opinions were formed before I arrived -- I self selected as it were.
Your comment is sort of like me saying that someone from NYC or LA or Chicago has certain "Blue City" characteristics that we all recognize...but leaving the unsaid part as encompassing the worst traits of all.

I also live in a red state, however I was raised by parents who believe there is always enough on the table to feed one more and there is always a sofa for someone who needs a place to sleep.

Are you speaking about charity? If so, that is more a problem with your perception, not reality. Study after study has shown that Conservatives are more charitable than Liberals. This is a thread about abortion -- are you implying that being pro-life means people are also less charitable than the pro-abortionists you know? If so, that is laughable. Being pro-life and being charitable are not mutually exclusive. In fact, one might argue that saving a fetus/infant from certain death is about as charitable as one can get. And what does that say about the one willing to kill a fetus or infant? We here do the same as you as regards caring for others and we are not alone in living that ethos -- most Southeners welcome strangers warmly and with open arms. My point is that just because I am Conservative and live near a small, Conservative Texas town has nothing to do with how charitable I am.

What you wrote implies that contraceptives should be the responsibility of any female. Sort of doesn't always work out that way when it comes to rape, incest, drugs, alcohol, etc
When I wrote what you are referring to, perhaps I didn't make myself clear. I do feel that contraception is specifically the responsibility of the (unmarried?) female in that, for example, she can demand a male use a condom. If no condom, do a "morning after" pill. But take ownership of the issue, take responsibility because if she gets pregnant, that baby is her responsibility too. She may or may not get the father involved, but she's the one who's gonna be doing all the work 24/7.
I have already said that I feel the 5%, or 10%, or 15% (or whatever the number you like) of abortions due to rapes, incest, fetal abnormalities and mother's health issues qualify for abortion.

You asked, In some businesses, clerks have the right refuse the sale of contraceptives if it goes against their faith. Many GOP have announced they will vote against protections for access to contraceptives. How will that help the women in those states?
If a clerk refuses to sell, go elsewhere. And I feel the same way about bakeries refusing to sell wedding cakes to gay couples or restaurants refusing to serve Conservatives.
But denying access to contraceptives? If true, I find it unconscionable that someone would outlaw both abortions and contraceptives. I would vote against anyone pushing that...

A woman naps, bundled up against the air conditioning, as she waits to have an abortion, Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, at Hope Medical Group for Women in Shreveport, La.Associated Press/Rebecca Blackwell

    • Doctors in Louisiana say patients have already suffered under the state's abortion ban.
    • One described her patient enduring a painful, bloody labor while having a miscarriage at 16 weeks.

    • Abortion access in Louisiana has fluctuated for weeks, but the procedure is currently legal.
A Louisiana woman experiencing a miscarriage at 16 weeks of pregnancy was forced to endure a painful, bloody, and traumatizing labor and delivery, according to a sworn affidavit from her OB/GYN, after she was denied a simple 15-minute procedure due to the state's abortion ban.

"She was already traumatized from her experience and felt that an induction, which would require labor and delivery of the fetus, would be too much for her," Dr. Valerie Williams said in court documents obtained by Insider.

But the hospital's lawyer immediately told Williams she couldn't perform the D&E due to Louisiana's trigger ban.

"Going back into that hospital room and telling the patient that she would have to be induced and push out the fetus was one of the hardest conversations I've ever had," Williams said.

Williams' affidavit, filed in Louisiana's 19th Judicial District Court as part of a lawsuit against the state, offered multiple examples of how Louisiana's abortion ban that automatically took effect last month when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade have already impacted reproductive health care and directly harmed her patients.

Abortion access in Louisiana has fluctuated multiple times in recent weeks. Currently, a temporary restraining order is in place that permits abortion access while the issue is being litigated. On Tuesday, Judge Donald Johnson ordered the TRO remain in place until July 29.

But when Louisiana's abortion ban was in effect earlier in July, Williams said one of her patients' water broke at just 16 weeks of pregnancy — far too early to be viable. Williams said her patient requested a procedure called a D&E, meaning dilation and evacuation, which would "quickly and safely end the pregnancy" in roughly 15 minutes.

Rather than perform the D&E, Williams had to watch while her patient "was forced to go through a painful, hours-long labor to deliver a nonviable fetus, despite her wishes and best medical advice."

Williams said her patient took additional hours to deliver the placenta, began hemorrhaging, and lost nearly a liter of blood before Williams could stop the bleeding.

"She was screaming — not from pain, but from the emotional trauma she was experiencing," Williams said. "There is absolutely no medical basis for my patient, or any other patient in this state, to experience anything like this. This was the first time in my 15-year career that I could not give a patient the care they needed. This is a travesty."

That wasn't Williams' only horror story. Her affidavit also described a patient who became pregnant despite using birth control and sought an abortion the weekend after the Supreme Court's decision came down.

"She told me that she hoped the pregnancy was ectopic so she could get treated in Louisiana, rather than having to leave the state," Williams said, referring to a pregnancy in which the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus and must be removed.

"It is horrific that patients are hoping to have a life-threatening health complication so that they can get appropriate care," Williams said.

Williams and other abortion providers in Louisiana have argued that the state's trigger law is far too vague. The law makes exceptions for "medically futile" pregnancies and for abortions that would prevent the "death or substantial risk of death to the pregnant woman."

State law, however, does not provide necessary information about what constitutes a "medically futile" pregnancy, they said, even though under the state's trigger law doctors could face prison terms up to 15 years if they perform abortions that don't fall under those exceptions.

Louisiana officials have defended the law and said no further clarifications are necessary. Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry wrote in a court filing that the state's law "needs only to delineate what is illegal — not define what is legal."

And this from @stumblers pundit opinion piece.
"“If a woman wants to go and get an abortion in a state where it’s legal there is nothing that the state she resides in can do to stop her. It’s unconstitutional,” says Silverstein. “The right to travel is protected under the privileges and immunities clause in the Fourteenth Amendment, and I don’t think the Supreme Court would take away the privileges and immunities clause. Is it possible a state passes a law like this? Sure, but I don’t think it would be enforceable.”

shooter - you live in a country where Republicans were able to pass laws placing BOUNTIES on the head of people who remotely assist in abortions. A fucking bounty! A cash prize to anyone who dobs in an uber driver who took a woman to get an abortion... yay, money for everyone! Your precious constitution presumably allowed that law to pass. So - when Republicans start talking about going after people who cross state lines to get an abortion... I have no doubt that COULD become reality.

This is exactly why I usually post the entire article instead pf just cherry picking little snippets like @shootersa does to try and dishonestly create a false impression, If the Supreme Court can uphold laws making abortion illegal and worse making abortion vigilantes legal they can also uphold laws making it illegal for a woman to travel to another state for an abortion. Which is why some states are trying to pass such laws right now.

The Supreme Court May Have Just Killed Porn’s ‘Creampie’

    PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES
With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, porn’s women are now refusing to participate in “creampie” scenes, and many are doing girl/girl scenes only to reduce the risk of pregnancy.

    Say goodbye to creampies.

Yes, thanks to the Supreme Court’s archaic rollback of women’s reproductive rights, these types of scenes—when a man finishes inside of a woman—just became some of the riskiest to perform. And America’s really going to miss them, as the term “creampie” consistently ranks among the top ten Pornhub searches in the United States.

Sure, porn stars have always faced a certain amount of risk. STIs are an occupational hazard on any given day despite safety protocols and self-mandated industry testing every two weeks. But no one’s thinking about pregnancy. Until now. Without the constitutional right to an abortion, a right that has been upheld for nearly half a century, what happens if birth control fails? Adult actresses are uniquely positioned to confront this sudden lack of bodily autonomy.

Adult entertainment is a legally regulated business in California, though many of its stars reside outside the state in places where abortion is now illegal or severely restricted. If a performer did get pregnant on set, Attorney Corey D. Silverstein, who represents some of the largest content creators in the adult business, says it’s unlikely to be considered a workplace accident. These are independent contractor relationships, with producers using a release of liability along with standard releases on set, and as Silverstein points out, “Proper releases already have protections in place, so they are not liable for this type of incident.”

This puts the onus of accidental conception on the adult actress, no matter what state she lives in.

“If a woman wants to go and get an abortion in a state where it’s legal there is nothing that the state she resides in can do to stop her.

Nonetheless, adult actresses are terrified, since in their line of work it’s possible to get pregnant on the job.

With the reversal of Roe v. Wade, a surprising number of women in the adult industry are weighing their options of self-preservation in the form of medical sterilization—a permanent surgical procedure known as getting your “tubes tied.”

“I’ve had passing thoughts about tubal ligation for the sake of a permanent solution, which isn’t something I would ever choose to do previously,” reveals adult actress Violet Doll. “I was in a very abusive relationship as a teen. Without access to abortion, I would’ve felt even more trapped.”

The 2021 AVN Star of the Year (the Oscars of porn) recipient stands by her younger self’s choice to end the pregnancy without any regrets. “Considering my situation, abortion saved my life. I believe it’s part of what gave me the courage to leave. It was a reminder that I control my body. Women have lost a right that in part saved me,” she says.

“Considering my situation, abortion saved my life. I believe it’s part of what gave me the courage to leave. It was a reminder that I control my body. Women have lost a right that in part saved me.”
Concerned that access to birth control may be next, as alluded to by Justice Clarence Thomas in his concurring opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade, 28-year-old adult performer Avery Jane has begun to consider her future options. “I plan to look into doctors for a more permanent sterilization solution,” states Jane. “I don’t want children and need to make sure I can continue to work and live my life without the fear that birth control will one day be taken away too.”

Unfortunately, sterilization-seeking adult women of child-bearing age are often denied and met with resistance from doctors refusing to take them seriously. Stephanie Eild has spoken with six different doctors, all of whom tried to discourage her from the procedure in one way or another. You’re too young, they said. What if you change your mind? What if you get married and your husband wants to have children?

“I would absolutely love to get my tubes tied, however, because I am so young without children, finding a doctor to do the procedure has been difficult,” offers the 32-year-old erotic content creator. “For the time being, I have stopped working with other male models. I would love to continue to work with models if they can prove that they’ve had a vasectomy.”

As extreme as this sounds, so too is being told you’re a human incubator without a right to your own womb, forced to grow another body inside of your own without any regard for your mental, physical or financial state.

At only 22 years old and with 200 scenes under her belt—as well as award nominations for hottest newcomer—Arietta Adams is reconsidering what types of scenes she’ll continue to perform in. These choices will undoubtedly impact her career trajectory and choices with serious financial ramifications. “I stopped getting creampied and will never get creampied again…I want to be secure in that if I happen to get pregnant on set, I will be able to terminate the pregnancy. I do not want a porn baby,” exclaims Adams. “This pushes me to do more girl/girl work because girls can’t get me pregnant.” (Girl/girl pays significantly less than traditional boy/girl scenes.)

Though widely used within the adult industry, birth control is not 100% effective nor can it be assumed every performer is on it. Oral contraceptives, for example, commonly known as “the pill,” have a typical use failure rate of 9 percent. Remove human error and the efficacy increases to 99 percent, but few people rigidly take a pill at the same time every single day for years.

    Sometimes accidents happen.

“I went to the doctor because I was sick and he said, ‘You’re pregnant.’ I started laughing because from the time I’d first gotten my period I was told I was abnormal and couldn’t get pregnant,” recalls Anastasia Rose. “I had an abortion in 2018 and all I can think about is, what if that was in 2022? It was a porn baby, and I didn’t think it was fair to the child to have to explain that.”

Even so, getting an abortion was a tough but necessary choice for Rose, and one she had told very few people about—until now.

Though she’s on birth control, given her past experience, Rose admits that doing a creampie scene now, living in a state where abortion access is restricted, would require far more consideration and has given her a “newfound fear.”

Set baby accidents are few and far between, however even a 1% chance has become a risk too great to bear. Erring on the side of caution, Skye Blue has called it quits on creampie scenes—unless they’re fake. “My whole job revolves around sex, and now it’s being attacked because the government is only viewing it as a reproductive act, not an act of pleasure [or entertainment],” notes Blue. “I’ve already decided that I won’t be doing any more real creampies. I don’t want to be tied to anyone I have sex with for the rest of my life just because one of their little swimmers made it to the egg.”

Indeed, it is an invasion of privacy and a violation of liberty to allow the government to dictate how a woman can and cannot use her own womb. Her body, her choice.

As the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg said to the Senate Judiciary Committee at her confirmation hearing: “The decision whether or not to bear a child is central to a woman’s life, to her well-being and dignity. It is a decision she must make for herself. When government controls that decision for her, she is being treated as less than a fully adult human responsible for her own choices.”

    @stumbler
    Shooter missed it.
Can you point to the part of the supreme court decision that makes abortion in America illegal?

Can you explain how it "creates a dishonest impression"? To post that part of an article that makes the desired point?
What, people can't go read the whole article if they care?

Shooters point was that a woman in America can get an abortion. Now. Today. In California. The heart of the porn industry.

Your repeated insistence that travel, vigilantism, no birth control, and banned same sex marriages are in our futures is not a universally held position, and not supported by the facts, the law, or common sense.

No I am not going to keep doing that just so you can pretend I didn't and then move to a new page or different thread and demand it again. That is just your stupid little game and I refuse to play it.

So you can't point to the part of the courts decision that outlaws abortion in America.

Not that you won't, you can't because the decision didn't outlaw abortion at all.

And anyone who has read the actual decision knows that.

Have you even read the decision?
Cause you keep saying it outlaws abortion, but that isn't what it did .

shooter, you and me have already played this game. It was pretty boring. Why don't you find something else to talk about? Do you need to take all of us to task one by one over saying that Roe's overturning means Abortion is outlawed in America?

Let me answer for stumbler - "Some" of America.

      There. Wasn't that easy.

      But that's the whole point isn't it, @darkride ?
The american hater happily takes all manner of effort to go down into the archives in the sub sub basement and find posts from over a decade ago, paste them all into some super post that he then claims is proof someone is lying, or a hypocrite, or whatever the bugs in his head are telling him that day.
So when he intentionally and repeatedly makes outrageous lying claims like abortion in America has been outlawed, Shooter is going to call him on it.

If that bothers you, go get a coke or go to the bathroom or something.

Extremist Ohio legislators created the law forcing child rape victims to give birth

    Marilou Johanek, Ohio Capital Journal
    July 19, 2022

    Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine

Lawmaking in Ohio has become a national and international embarrassment. A model of far-right extremism that draws gasps of incredulity. The severe ramifications of Ohio’s abortion ban on a pregnant child in the state, a victim of rape, generated worldwide disbelief and disgust. But the state legislature, whose so-called “heartbeat” bill would have forced a 10-year-old to give birth, doesn’t think its heartless brutality goes far enough. It wants to pass even more extreme, no-exception abortion bans after the fall election.

In two weeks, many of the legislators who made forced birth a reality in Ohio will be on the Aug. 2 primary for state representatives and state senators. Put that date on your calendar and, while you’re at it, add the general election on Nov. 8. Go ahead. I’ll wait. This is critical. The state rep or state senator you ultimately send to Columbus will wield the power to make or break Ohio.

They will vote yay or nay on bills already introduced by Statehouse extremists that would outlaw abortion at conception, make doctors who perform them felons, allow anyone to sue health care providers who aid or abet an abortion — and worse. Ohio voters no longer have the luxury of brushing off down-ballot races for the legislature as an afterthought to the marquee attractions at the top. Frankly, that’s how we got in the mess we’re in — a state that would force a child rape victim to endure childbirth but abolish gun permits, background checks and firearm training.

Ohio’s six-week abortion ban was passed in 2019 by state Republican lawmakers (no Democrats) and immediately signed into law by Republican Gov. Mike DeWine. It was blocked by a federal court pending the outcome of Roe but reinstated the same day women and girls lost their half-century constitutional right to abortion June 24, 2022. Point is, the extremism of right-wing lawmakers put that statute on the books.

It is they who bear responsibility for the hardship heaped on a ten-year-old Ohio child impregnated by her rapist and banned from getting an abortion in her home state. It was their unforgiving abortion ban — with no exceptions for rape or incest — that put a sexually assaulted and pregnant third grader in the nightmarish position of being forced to give birth in Ohio because her pregnancy went three days past the impossible time frame for a legal abortion.

The child was spared the horror of mandated labor and delivery by traveling out-of-state for a medical abortion, but others in Ohio similarly victimized may not be as fortunate and suffer in a state absolutely indifferent to their plight. So, save some of your outrage — over the despicable Ohio politicians who gained recent notoriety for dismissing the anguish of a pregnant child rape victim — for those equally contemptable in the Ohio House and Senate.

Every state legislator who voted his or her party line in support of the “heartbeat” bill, that effectively outlawed abortion in the state, is complicit in the pile-on misery of a 10-year-old in crisis. Maybe one of those extremists represents your district. Don’t let them fly under the radar. Statehouse Republicans, running for reelection, must own the real-life ramifications of the merciless forced birth policy they approved. DeWine must own the ordeal he imposed on a raped and pregnant child with the punishing abortion ban he couldn’t wait to reinstate.

State Attorney General Dave Yost, who scoffed about the validity of the case on Fox News, must own the pain he inflicted on the Ohio child and her family whose trauma was disparaged on national television. Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan, the stealth seditionist with no moral compass, must own the vile tweet he posted calling the young victim’s hell a lie before deleting it after her rapist confessed.

It took a broken little girl, tragically shattered and scarred and second-guessed by callous right-wingers, to expose the abject cruelty of state leadership and its stark disregard for the most vulnerable. So much for compassionate conservatism. This is not the Ohio I know and love and believe still exists.

But we, as Ohio voters, must own the apathy that allowed our state to descend into a dark place. We don’t care enough about what happens in Columbus — or at all. We elect anyone with a pulse to the legislature and never follow up on performance. Most of us couldn’t tell you who our state rep or state senator is or how they voted on issues from abortion to concealed carry.

But by now the whole world knows that an Ohio child faced what no child should ever face under penalty of law; mandatory childbirth after rape courtesy of alt-right legislators without a soul. Our state government’s slide into a theocratic dystopia can only be stopped by voters who refuse to let Ohio become Texas. No more unchecked power in Columbus. We must make state legislative races a priority on Aug. 2 and Nov. 8 — not a postscript to the election.

So do your homework. Google the candidates. Scrutinize the voting records of incumbents. Vote in the upcoming primary and stay engaged. Volunteer for local campaigns working to counter Ohio’s legislative extremism with empathy, where a child is valued and not victimized to advance a political agenda. It’s critical.
