Hijacked Toyota recovered on the N12-highway

Be vigilant, hijackers have the element of surprise.

A 24-year old suspect was arrested after a hijacking occurred in Vosman last weekend.

The arrest followed after the hijacked Toyota GD6 was recovered on the N12 highway on Friday, February 4.

After the hijacking, the police received a ‘be on the lookout’ (bolo) for a white Toyota double cab GD6.

Shortly after the bolo, the SAPS highway patrol members from Middelburg spotted the mentioned vehicle on the N12 highway between the R42 and R50 off-ramp towards Johannesburg in Gauteng.

Highway patrol members requested backup and Delmas Police members joined them.

This joint venture was followed by a chase and the vehicle was recovered shortly afterwards. One suspect was arrested on the scene.

According to the police, the vehicle’s dashboard was ripped apart and a jamming device was found inside.

Both the vehicle and the jamming device were booked in at Delmas Police Station, although the hijacking took place in Vosman.
